Abstract
In this talk, I will present our latest research on FeGa-based thin films deposited by sputtering. Fe-Ga is gaining interest due to its large magnetostriction combined with a low coercivity. The influence of the structure on the magnetic properties of Fe100-xGax alloys makes necessary an accurate correlation between them. The analysis of how growth conditions can be used to tune the magnetic properties is also of relevance. We have focused our studies on the correlation between structural and magnetic properties in Fe-Ga alloys with Ga content around 30 at. % deposited by sputtering. We have also studied Tb-Fe-Ga thin films in a way to combine the properties of TbFe2, the material with the highest known magnetostriction, and those of Fe-Ga. Tb-Fe-Ga thin films were obtained by co-sputtering and the possibility of tailoring the magnetic properties by means of the growth conditions was analyzed.
