Abstact
Localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) in metal nanoparticles performs strong light absorption and near-field enhancement within the visible wavelengths (400 700nm). Recently, it was found that doped semiconductor nanocrystals could also host LSPR with their mobile charge careers. Unlike in metals, the largely variable career density in semiconductors extends the accessible spectral range of LSPR across the entire infrared (IR) region where solar energy is abundant, molecular vibrations are resonant, and biological tissues are transparent. We will discuss how compositional and structural attributes of various semiconductor materials influence their LSPR properties that are distinguished from LSPR in metals.
