Abstract
Semiconductor quantum dots are considered as excellent sources of quantum light that can be used in future applications of quantum computing using linear optics. In addition, charge configurations in quantum dots have a great potential as systems for on-chip quantum logic operations. In this talk I will give an overview of on-chip generation and transmission of quantum light by quantum dots focusing on systems coupled to photonic crystal structures. I will also discuss the use of charged quantum dots as systems for efficient phase shifting and switching of weak optical pulses down to the single-photon level.
